More than 200 people dropped into County Hall in Trowbridge this week to find out about the many types of job opportunities available at Wiltshire Council.

Representatives from 22 different areas of the council were on hand to provide advice and insights into working for the local authority, from highways and transport to providing care for people who may have just left hospital and need to gain independence again.

People were able to ask about apprenticeships, work experience, flexible working opportunities, full and part-time roles and gain CV advice. There was also the chance to check out interview skills with mock interviews to help people prepare for work.

Additionally there were interview slots available for those interested in support work in areas including reablement, Wiltshire Support at Home, day and respite, and the Intensive & Outreach Enablement Teams. There was also a slot for The Forces Employment Charity which was able to offer advice to Army veterans.

Cllr Ashley O'Neill, Cabinet Member for Staffing said: "I'm really pleased we had so many people join us to find out more about working for Wiltshire Council. We are proud of our workforce as they have a strong commitment to providing the best service and support for residents in Wiltshire. We know there are more people out there who can bring a range of skills or are ready to learn and have the enthusiasm to join us.

"This was a great opportunity to speak to employees and get that first-hand experience from people who work here. Many joined us but for those who weren't able to attend, please have a look at our website and find out more about the breadth of careers and opportunities available with us."

People can find out what it's like to work at Wiltshire Council and about the council identity on Jobs at Wiltshire (opens new window).
