Volunteering opportunities

Volunteers play an active role in library services across the county. It's a great way to support your local library and get involved in your community. Volunteering also has many benefits in terms of maintaining your health and wellbeing, building confidence and skills and supporting services where you live.

There are a number of library volunteering roles:

  • Home Service volunteer - deliver books to people who are unable to leave their homes
  • Community Library volunteer - volunteers operate either some or all of the opening hours of our smaller libraries
  • Library Support volunteer - support staff providing services in our other libraries
  • Summer Reading Challenge volunteer - help with the Summer Reading Challenge for primary school aged children

There are also opportunities for supporting activities for children in many of our libraries, such as regular rhyme and story times for pre-school children.

For further information about any of the above roles and to find out about vacancies at individual libraries, please either email libraryenquiries@wiltshire.gov.uk (opens new window) or phone your local library.
